Raphael Tuju is the hope of Luo Nyanza

Image
Raphael Tuju, a technocrat and a former member of parliament from Rarieda in siaya County formally nyanza province is the only hope so far that the luo community can look upto. Tuju served as a cabinet minister in the Narc government and his performance was exemplary. Tuju is the current Secretary General of the jubilee party, the largest party in Kenya. Tuju harbors progressive ideas that are helpful and sound to fire luo people to destiny. The current political leaders from the region have lacked progressive ideas and thus hold people at ransom. The crop of leadership now from the region are kleptomaniacs who does not mind about the welfare of the great people of the region. In his stint as the minister and the member of parliament, Tuju brought sanity to ailing sectors including health in his backyard. He charted the path the people and by extension leaders were not used to hence he was fought veeery hard hence his unceremoniously ousted. Tuju is the hope that not only the l

Uncertainty as kenya prepares for repeat poll

Kenya is set to hold presidential elections on October 26th after the Supreme Court annulled results that declared incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta the winner and ordered fresh elections after 60 days. There is uncertainty however as the opposition leader Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka have pulled out of the race and asked their supporters not to participate on the polls. Mr Odinga decried Independent and boundaries commission IEBC preparedness to hold the credible polls as he claims non of the issues he raised to be addressed have not been met by the poll body. The legitimacy of the winner of the polls we likely be called into question of opposition supporters indeed don’t take part. The international observer missions have lauded IEBC on what they term as the proper preparations and mechanism to deliver polls claims that the opposition refutes.

Police officers stormed the home of Mwingi Central MP, Gideon Mulyungi, seeking to arrest the legislator over derogatory remarks he allegedly made against President Uhuru Kenyatta. “Uhuru cannot tell me anything since I am loaded than him where it matters, what is he trying to show us? If he removed his trousers and I remove mine, you will realise that my manhood is bigger than his,” he said.

Kawangware slum in the capital Nairobi has experienced violence and chaos that has just invoked the memories of 2008 post election violence which was deadly inter ethnic massacre where indigenous communities turned against one another. In 2008, the estimated fatalities was 1300 people according to kenya human rights commission KHRC. Thousands were displaced from their homes and countless were left paralyzed. Today's protests in kawangware, a slum turned chaotic as protesters vandalized and break into business of proprietors of people perceived to be in rivals camp. Property were destroyed and stolen. This has just forced the infamous Nairobi business community to retaliate. These is where confrontation begins and many people will lose lives and the economy of the country will crumble. As if kenya was in the process of recovering from deadly violence that is still fresh in the minds of majority of the population, the country yet again finds itself in quagmire and potential c

1. Live in a rental house owned by an Uhuruto supporter...Do I move out beginning tomorrow? If yes, where to? 2. Commute to and from work via Matatus (mostly owned by Okuyu). In the spirit of resisting Uhuruto and his supporters, do I start trekking from tomorrow or is the resistance going to provide Resistance Bus Services? 3. Is in the Juakali sector, where 70% of my clients are Uhuruto supporters. What should I do? Pack back to Nyanza or the resistance has enough clients to replace the ones I have. 4. Use household products and foods from companies and businesses owned by government and supporters of Uhuruto. What's the way forward jatelo? Is milk from Luo Nyanza Creameries ready for shipping? What about the Luo Unga Group, is the flour ready for shipping to Nairobi? Sir, where will I get bread...tell me the Gor Mahia bread is still in circulation.

Kuria West constituency in Migori County registers high voter turnout despite being NASA strongholds

Image
Kuria West in Migori County has registered high turnout despite being supposedly being referred as Nasa stronghold where Mr Odinga’s word is almost a law. Raila Odinga had pulled out of the race and instructed his supporters not to take part terming it a coronation of rituals by Jubilee Party. Kuria has however has defied the odds by participating in the repeat presidential elections contrary to the wishes of so many leader from the region including Hon junet mohamed from Suna. The repeat presidential elections will be the litmus test on Mr Odinga true and loyal supporters.

Good riddance Mr Odinga.

Image
The embodiment of the opposition politics Mr Raila Odinga who has spent most of his political career in trenches and opposition did a blunder by withdrawing from the presidential race. This was supposedly the last bullet meaning the last time he is running which was actually the fourth time. The elections of August 8th were annulled by the apex court which mr Odinga started calling for reforms and dialogue between relevant stakeholders. Mr Odinga later claims the poll body dragged its feet in instigating the reforms hence his withdrawal.  But his withdrawal has backfired on him big time. Hon Odinga will have to leave the top leadership of the coalition to either his running mate on last polls mr kalonzo musyoka or other top echelons in his coalition. Like his predecessor in opposition mr kenneth Matiba whose political career just ended after withdrawing from 1997 elections. Hon Raila is no better as his antics will come to an abrupt end. The resistance he talked about in a rall

Image

The repeat presidential elections will end the political standoff and uncertainty that has engulfed the country in the last three months. There are some fears that voters in opposition strongholds especially ones in luo nyanza who will not only take part but try to stop the whole process in their counties. Most parts of the country will vote peacefully and the crisis will be resolved bu today's polls as the incumbent president Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to retain his seat easily. His jubilee party has the majority in both houses of parliament. The legitimacy of the winner will be put onto question basing the numbers of those who will cast their votes and the election to happen in all 290 constituencies. Chairman wafula chebukati of independent electoral commission IEBC assured all Kenyans that elections will go on as planned and that all the logistics and availability of elec

Judicial coup?? What is CJ Maraga up to?

Image
The Kenyan chief Justice is a man on the spot now in the kenyan political landscape. This is due to the case pending to postpone elections due to be conducted tomorrow by electoral commission, IEBC. The case seeks to postpone elections on grounds that the electoral agency is not well prepared to conduct free and credible poll in accordance with the law. The case was filed by the civil society and was listed as urgent by the registrar of the Supreme Court ms.Nyaiyaki. There is alot of anxiety among the people as Maraga and the other three judges overturn August 8th presidential elections on grounds of irregularities and illegalities. The political commentators are sharply divided on which side the case may favor. Whatever the outcome the case has effects on stability, peace and harmony in the country. It may trigger chaos in some sections of the country depending on alignment of supporters across the country. There are some of the opinion that the kenyan judiciary is slowly but

Lake Nakuru tragedy exposes deep divisions in our country. Sad

Image
Tragedies hit anyone regardless of race, tribe or gender. It doesn't discriminate neither does it choose. Lake Nakuru tragedy claimed five lives whom all were in board. The country ought to have united despite simmering political tensions in the country to mourn the fallen young Kenyans. That was not the case however as section of Kenyans especially on social media were mourning while others were in celebration. When did we rejoice in sorrows of other people despite being our enemies. Kenya is deeply divided to the extent that we have lost humanity. Uniting the country now is an uphill task as the political class are the ones perpetuating the divisions. May the souls of fallen Kenyan patriots rest in peace
